A-Z Challenge Poetry, Days E, F and G, by Me, I’m Steveishungry You See

Hello fellow A-Zingers and all the rest! I had a great weekend, so good that blogging was not really a high enough priority to make it a reality. I spent a day with MissusSteveishungry playing disc golf and eating steak, and then a little more disc golf and a little more steak the next day. My urge to type was quashed soundly and rightfully so………ANywho

here I am with 3 letters backed up like the aforementioned steak in my John Wayne-esque colon of Carne, i am sure. Sorry, that was not really a pleasant sentence but i like it. Anywho

 

April is Poetry Month. It may be National or International or even Galactic or Pan-Galactic or Inter and/or Intra Dimensional in its scope but I missed that part of the story on NPR this morning because a turkey flew in front of my car and scared just a little bit of pee-pee out of me. Not really. Okay really. No, don’t listen to him, he’s scared of turkeys.What? I’ll show you!!(skirmish ensues, much blood is shed and teeth are generally gnashed)

ANywho…here’s a poem , each stanza a tribute the letters E, F and G, in that order, as is my want.

 

efficiently eviscerating everyone else

the evil elf with the uneven ears

erupts into laughter and then into tears

flowing freely like fountains with out any fears

forging ahead,freezing and failing to interfer

gorging on grandeuar  and grinding his gears

glowing and glowering, going on for years

going on for years

 

and FIN…..finger snap applause please….i must now go smoke a clove cigarette and adjust my beret before getting another free cup of coffee…please comment or ridicule or offer me a job as a poet…

Hi folks…sorry I have been AWOL from the blogosphere. Work has been waaay to “work” lately. The new cheffin’ gig is going well, but the Country Club in question is going to the auction block in 6 days, so I may well be looking for employment. One of the best things about the Tomato Head is the free shift meal…. this is Benton’s bacon, andouille sausage, chicken, garlic and red pepper pizza…. OK enough talk .time to eat

Bacon Chocolate Chip Pineapple and Jalapeno Cookies

Sometimes you have to take risks. Like when you really really REALLY  want to jump out of an airplane or you take up chainsaw juggling or play Russian roulette with a psychic. This however is not such a time.  Never has anything  been so obvious to me, not even the fact that my wife hates it when I grow my sideburns out. Basically it goes like this: Cookies+ Bacon+ Chocolate+ Pineapples+Jalapenos=Eating while You Make Noises normally reserved for R rated  movie love scenes.

So basically the recipe is kind of as follows. I always use the chocolate chip cookie recipe from the back of the Nestle package of chocolate chips. So, for specifics, look there. What i did to these little yummy monsters was to add some oven dried pineapple rubbed with brown sugar, some raw diced jalapenos, deseeded of course, and topped with delicious Candied Bacon. Candied Bacon. Say it again in your mind. Candied Bacon. I dice the bacon and toss it with brown sugar and some cracked black pepper, then you bake it around 350 degrees on some parchment paper. I pulled the cookies out a couple of minutes early and topped with the now delicious Candied Bacon. Candied Bacon. Candied Bacon. Oh, sorry. Then they go back in the oven for a minute or two. Be careful not to burn your bacon or your cookies. Do Not OverCook Your Cookies. Just don’t. In general, cook cookies until the tops just start to crack then pull them out and let cool on the pan for 5 minutes then transfer to wire rack. Anyway, these cookies are a twist on something familiar and combine flavors that pair up nicely but doubled up into a group in stead of two unrelated yet sumptuous pairs. So, here’s the pictures, try no to lick the screen.

Steveishungry Goes Country! well, more country

Well folks, despite setbacks life goes on and that means Steveishungry will be Popping Up this month at Southland Books and Coffeeshop, back open under old management. The menu this time will pay homage to the Southern heritage I have at times tried my hardest to escape from, but which i now embrace wholly…sooo here is the rough draft for dinner on January 19th…call lisa at 984-4847 or , even better, sign up on facebook to attend the event…

APPETIZERS:

Pulled Pork and Purple Haze Slaw wrapped up in flour tortillas and grilled, served with moonshine peach dippin’ sauce

Sweetwater Vintage Cheddar and Scallion Biscuits with local honey butter

Benton’s Bacon and Sweetwater Valley Gouda stuffed Tater Skins

House Salad :By Greens with  Avocado Buttermilk Dressing, Benton’s bacon, Pico de Gallo and Fresh Croutons

Zesty Beer Cheese and Potato Soup with Corn Bread Mini Muffins

ENTREES…..

Locally Sourced Meatloaf with Portabella Gravy, served on a bed of Real Mashed Taters and one side item

Grilled Chicken Cordon Blue made with Benton’s prosciutto and Sweetwater Valley, and Moonshine Peach BBQ sauce, served on a bed of rice with one side item

Shrimp, Benton’s Bacon and Avocado Panini with Spinach, Marinated Artichoke Hearts, Sweetwater Valley Cheese served with one side item

Grilled Portabella, Spinach and Swiss Cheese French Dip served with    one side

SIDE ITEMS:

Mashed taters, with or without gravy

Fried Corn, creamy and wholesome

Green Beans, chock full of garlic and bacon

BBQ Baked Beans, secret recipe!

5 Cheese Mac and Cheese

DESSERTS:

Banana Pudding

Whatever Else My Aunt Wants to Make

 

Well, there you go….I’m hungry just thinking about it…Prices will be more than reasonable, especially considering the quality of the local ingredients we’re going to use. This will be probably my best menu yet, methinks….This is the kind of food i can really put my self into..not literally of course, that would be gross.

We’ve got Shirts and Annoyed Ramblings!

First off let me say, howdy and happy holidays…or merry christmas or happy kwanza or happy hanaukkah or whatever you choose to say…to be honest i wouldnt celebrate anything in december if it wasn’t for the kiddies, but i’m a crusty bastard soooo…anywho

WE”VE GOT T-SHIRTS!!! now we are officially cool and you can be too! stop by the shop or email me and i can ship one of these beauties world wide!….Now on to the ranting and rambling

here is a short list of things that have been pissing me off lately, insert your own punctuation as needed or desired.

republican debates, goat cheese, the high cost of towels, vaccuum cleaner power cords, power chords, broken strings and rusty things, shipping peanuts that you cannot eat, stale doughnuts, co-pays, computer editing software, unclipped toenails, the inability to throw something in a straight line for ten feet, new charlie brown specials, churches in general, generals in churches, zombies, hipster staches, miller high life and the whole damn state of texas

here are some good things…champion cheetahs, fire, mario kart, baby giggles, screen printing, fire, cheese from 2008, UEFA, basketball, fire, sourdough, long hair, fire, onions and did i mention FIRE?!?!

BURN THE DAMN  TREES DOWN!
